If the amazing extensions, quicker web-browsing, attractive themes weren't enough to sway you toward Firefox over Internet Explorer, perhaps the sobering topic of identity theft will be the one compelling reason you make the switch.

For years Web Designers have touted the benefits of using Firefox and certainly many, MANY people have made the switch - and quite happily so, but still a vast number of web surfers are using the defunct and unsecure Microsoft technology. This is not necessarily by choice however.

There are many institutions - schools, government offices, etc... - that only allow IE even though Firefox is freely available and is self updating.  Aside from that, there are still a few applications that are ActiveX - Microsoft's highly unsecure and proprietary framework - reliant.  Nevermind that there is a way to use Internet Explorer within Firefox, some people are just incapable of making the switch.

For those that are using Firefox, you should be happy knowing that you are the most secure on the internet according to a new study released this past Thursday.  While, as the article indicates, no browser is 100% safe from the millions of threats, the best preventive measures you can take are to keep your browser updated.  Firefox has a self-updating feature that is not only extremely efficient, but virtually transparent.  To put it simply, Firefox makes it easy to stay safe on the web!
