Just a few days ago, one my clients had several strange problems manifest simultaneously. After a bit of research it turned out that a new patch for .NET 2.0 Framework was the culprit. In the process of updating it had somehow corrupted the entire framework.
Strangely it does not affect all users, but only a select few. If you find that your Quickbooks or UPS Worldship are suddenly inaccessible, it's likely you were affected by this issue. Fortunately there is a rather simple fix - at least until MS releases a patch to fix their first patch!
This is taken directly from my post over at GeeksToGo.com:
""...It turns out that the Microsoft update introduced a problem in the
.NET 2.0 Framework.
To resolve this issue, please do not uninstall and re-install
QuickBooks. We do not recommend this, as it will not address
the problem.
The best thing to do is to go to the source of the problem, so you
will need to remove and reinstall the .NET 2.0 Framework. To help
walk you through it, we have provided detailed instructions in our
QuickBooks Knowledge Base that provides some easy to follow steps and
also includes additional links to the Microsoft site:
http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/suppo...article/1009275
We are continuing to work on this issue and if we find out anything
new, we will be sure to let you know right away.
Thanks for your patience,
The QuickBooks Team "
If anybody has any suggestions until MS releases another 'fix' for their first 'fix' I'd love to hear them.
UPDATE:
The dotnetfx_cleanup_tool fixed all the problems. Just need to download and run it to remove a faulty .NET 2.0 and then re-install the .NET 2.0 SP1 Framework.
