As a general trend, the price of most technology is steeply dropping. This is a great time for those who have been sitting on the fence about building a new computer. I recall just a few years ago, when building a new 'power' computer could easily cost several thousand dollars. But anymore, a person can get a blazing fast computer for under $1000. The key is to shop by components and build your own computer, rather than buy a Dell or an HP. With Intel dropping the price of their Quad-Core processors you can have a 4 CPU powerhouse for as little as $266! Pair that with some high-speed RAM and a decent Motherboard and you've got a sub-thousand dollar multimedia computer! If you've purchased a new computer for home or office in the past few years, you'll know what I mean when I say they come pre-loaded with garbage! On many occassions, I have had friends actually return their brand new computers because they seemed to be slower than the one they currently had. It's not because of the hardware, rather a poor configuration and too much adware/trialware. |
